Arsene Wenger has admitted that he was not satisfied with the result which his team earned at the St. Mary’s on Sunday.

The Gunners saw top four rivals Chelsea drop points ahead of their trip to Southampton and knew a victory would be imperative.

However, another below-par start to a game saw Arsenal have to settle for a point courtesy of an equalizer from Olivier Giroud.

Thus, Wenger has admitted his side did not get the result which was required to stay in the race for a top four spot.

“I’m not happy with the point because I wanted three, but if you cannot win it, don’t lose it. We kept going, we were relentless.” the Arsenal manager said

“After a difficult start we were caught cold and overall it was a windy, rainy afternoon against a team who played well and were quick on the counter-attack.

“It was important not to concede a second goal and in the end Olivier Giroud helped us at least rescue a point. Considering the quality of the team we faced, it is not so bad.”
