Following the addition of Cohen Bramall this week, the Gunners are pursuing another defensive acquisition according to reports.
Arsene Wenger secured the signing of Bramall, who could strengthen his options at left-back in the near future as Kieran Gibbs edges closer to a summer departure.
However, with the futures of Mathieu Debuchy and Carl Jenkinson at Arsenal also unresolved, the manager appears to be in search of another full-back.
According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are now plotting the signing of Portuguese defender Ricardo Pereira who is currently on loan at Nice from FC Porto.
The report is claiming that Arsenal are ready to place an offer worth around $24.6 million for the right-back with Debuchy expected to be sold permanently while Jenkinson remains likely to be loaned out to a fellow Premier League club.
Pereira, who is capable of playing as a full-back or winger, is apparently Wenger’s main target for a back-up to Hector Bellerin who was not in his best form during Tuesday night’s 3-3 draw at Bournemouth.
The addition of the 23-year-old would provide solid cover for Bellerin in the right-back position heading into next season.
So how good could Pereira be? Here is some footage of his best efforts in France so far this season…
