Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club will not reject an opportunity to strengthen the squad in January.

Arsenal failed to sign an outfield player last summer, much to the frustration of fans who had called for more spending following the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea.

But with the January transfer window approaching, Wenger insists he is interested in adding a new signing to an Arsenal squad which has been depleted by injuries again.

“We are open-minded [to loans or permanent deals],” Wenger said on Thursday.

“We are not the only ones who can decide about the speed of the transfers because we have to adapt to the availabilities and the speed of negotiations and the willingness of clubs to sell.” he said

The likes of Danny Welbeck, Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wislhere are all yet to make an appearance this season as Arsenal pursue the Premier League title in another campaign troubled by injuries.

“We are open to do something because we are short.” Wenger added.
