Arsene Wenger has revealed when he expects a decision over his contract to be made clear to the public.
The Arsenal manager has entered the final year of his deal with the club, almost three seasons after he extended his contract following the FA Cup triumph in 2014.
Even though updates over contract renewals for Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have dominated the headlines, the Arsenal boss is in a more unclear situation regarding his own future at the club.
According to Wenger, spring 2017 is when he will consider whether to leave or remain at the Emirates stadium.
“No.” the Frenchman responded when asked if Arsenal’s negative recent results will affect his future.
“I always said that I will judge where I stand in spring and make my decisions then. And the club is free as well. It’s not because I am here a long time that I have any rights. We are both on the same boat.”
“No, I don’t think so. There are plenty of managers who [get to] the end of their contract. It happened to me before. I signed sometimes in March, April for longer contracts. So I don’t think it’s a problem.”
