Arsene Wenger believes the north London derby should have been decided in favour of Arsenal by Olivier Giroud.

The Gunners settled for a point after Kieran Gibbs’ volley canceled out Harry Kane’s goal before Mauricio Pochettino’s men denied the hosts a winning goal to complete their late comeback.

Tottenham may feel hard done by after squandering opportunities to seal a rare victory at Arsenal but Wenger insists the result was equally harsh on his side.

After witnessing a lion’s share of Arsenal’s chances fall to Giroud who went close to scoring with a header on several occasions, the Arsenal manager rued the striker’s misses at full-time.

“If we were really clinical we would have won it. Giroud had the chances to score. He is very angry” Wenger said

Despite Wenger’s disappointment over the France international efforts on Sunday, the Gunners boss has not lost faith in Giroud with the transfer window approaching.

“When you see a player who is happy to miss chances, you can worry. He is a real goalscorer and I think he did fight”
