Arsene Wenger has revealed that Theo Walcott will be deployed in more than one role in attack over the course of the season.

According to the Arsenal boss, the 26-year-old is now ready to play on the left, right or through the middle as the festive period of fixtures approaches.

“I change it a little bit [Walcott’s position] game by game and see where he can be efficient because Theo is a decisive player. At Aston Villa he did that and got a penalty and before the final pass he gave the ball to Ozil. Today he finished.” he said

The England international began this campaign as Arsenal’s preferred option at centre-forward, keeping Olivier Giroud on the bench for a string of matches.

However, Walcott has featured in the same line-up with the Frenchman since returning from injury as the duo got their names on the score-sheet in the 2-1 victory over Manchester City.

“One of his strengths is the quality of his movement and if you can get it to Ozil, he can find him and his quality of movement is exceptional. I think Theo Walcott had a very good, strong, fighting performance and his defensive performance was top level today.” Wenger added

Walcott’s total of 81 goals so far in his Arsenal career is the most of any player in the Arsene Wenger’s current squad.
