Arsene Wenger has responded to fans who have called for the signing of Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford following Tuesday’s match.
Despite conceding two goals from Alexis Sanchez, Pickford was in sublime form for the away side who managed to keep a clean sheet in the first half.
The 23-year-old’s performance has seen several fans call for Wenger to secure his services this summer, especially since Sunderland are likely to sell players after being relegated.
However, the Arsenal manager insists Pickford is not need due to the wealth of options he currently has in that department.
“I think we had 36 shots on goal, which is the highest ever in the Premier League,” Wenger said after Arsenal’s 2-0 win.” the Arsenal manager said
“The keeper saved 11 of them so he did extremely well. We have plenty of goalkeepers.
“We have Petr Cech, we have Ospina, we have Wojciech, who is on loan at Roma and has had an exceptional season.
“We also have Emi Martinez. If there is one thing we don’t have to buy it’s a goalkeeper.”
