Arsene Wenger has revealed the player he has been keen on signing since last summer in a candid interview with beIN Sports.
The Arsenal manager has been slammed by fans and pundits in the past for failing to secure the addition of enough players to bolster his squad.
However, Wenger claims he made a bold attempt to sign Kylian Mbappe, a striker who is now being pursued by several big clubs around Europe.
According to the Arsenal manager, he traveled to France last summer to persuade the highly-rated teenager to move to the Emirates stadium.
“The player would tell you that I was at his home last year to try to get him here because he was at the end of [his] contract, but Monaco managed to keep him and the decision was very, very tight,” Wenger said.
“But I could understand it as well because he was educated there and at the end decided to stay there.”
