Arsene Wenger has revealed that one of his key players could return to action earlier than expected this weekend.

Arsenal are set to welcome Chelsea to the Emirates stadium in a fixture which go some way in deciding the destination of the Premier League title come May.

On Monday, Wenger suggested that Olivier Giroud would not be available for Saturday’s clash with the blues after the striker was excluded from the squad which faced Hull City due to injury.

However, the Arsenal manager has now revealed that the French international could actually play on Saturday as long as he passes a late fitness test.

“We have no new injuries [ahead of Chelsea game]. Olivier Giroud has a test to see if he can be involved [on Saturday], he had a good training session [on Thursday] so he is really the only one who could come back.

“A little bit [ahead of schedule], yes, because I thought that he would be short for [the Chelsea game]. But we will see how he comes out of today’s training session.”
