Arsene Wenger has offered the latest update on Santi Cazorla’s fitness situation heading into the final week of November.
Arsenal have been troubled by injuries to key players yet again this season even though they have managed to avoid defeat in their last 17 games in all competitions.
One of the stars currently sidelined is Santi Cazorla who last made an appearance in the 6-0 victory over Ludogorets in October.
The Spaniard is struggling to recover from an Achilles problem which has seen him travel to Spain to consult a specialist.
With Cazorla’s return date still very much unclear, the Arsenal manager insists he has a “gut feeling” about when the 31-year-old could play again.
“Look, I’ve given a bit up on that,” Wenger said at his pre-match press-conference.
“I don’t know how far he is. He looks like he’s making progress but, as long as the player is not in full-time training with the squad, it’s difficult to set targets.
“It’s not a big injury that will harm his future. My gut feeling is it will be short, two weeks, but when a player comes back to full training it still takes two weeks for a player to be ready again.”
