“We’re in negotiations” – Manager confirms expensive Arsenal deal to be finalised
Arsene Wenger has revealed what his plans are in terms of getting important deals completed with the January transfer window approaching.
The Arsenal boss made a change to his policy during the summer, as he spent far more than usual to secure the signings of five stars before deadline day.
However, there may be more work for Wenger to do with some of his key players yet to recommit their future to the club.
The likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, who have less than two years remaining on their current contracts, are yet to renew their deals with speculation still doing the rounds.
Thus, Wenger has moved to reassure anxious fans that a reportedly expensive combo deal for the duo to extend their stay at the Emirates stadium is still being processed.
“Nowadays, you negotiate with the agents more than with the player. We are in negotiations, yes.” the Arsenal manager said
“The players are 18 months away from the end of their contracts, so it’s normal. But the players always come in at the end, when it’s a renewal.
“With the first contract you need the players, but after that, when you renew, 90% of the contracts are negotiated with the agents.”
