Arsenal have continued to be linked with a move to sign Hakim Ziyech following his superb season in the colours of Ajax, and based on the player’s comments from not too long ago, the Gunners might just have an advantage over their Premier League rivals in securing the signature of the attacker.

Ziyech has been one of the star performers for Ajax this season, racking up 19 goals and 16 assists in all competitions, as the Dutch side fought against all the odds to reach the Champions League semi-final where they were only seconds away from knocking out Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Arsenal player Marc Overmars, who happens to be the director of football at Ajax, alerted the player’s suitors by confirming that Ziyech has played his last match for the Dutch side with a host of clubs seemingly interested in signing him in the summer transfer window.

Despite the fact that the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United have all been linked to the attacker, Ziyech has previously stated that his ‘ultimate dream’ would be to play for Arsenal FC.

When asked about which club he would like to join back in 2017, Ziyech told Ajax TV: “Well, I have two clubs. They are Arsenal and Barcelona. That is my ultimate dream.”

When asked if he has a footballing idol, Ziyech replied: “Yes, I actually do have one. [Mesut] Ozil.”
